A
first year student returned home to discover everything in his bedroom
had been wrapped in newspaper.
Tom ‘Burchy’ Burchfield’s room at the University of
Bristol had been papered from head-to-toe in several newspapers including
local student newspaper Epigram.
His
walls, ceiling, floor, duvet, mattress, curtains and sink, as well as
every other item in his room, were covered. The full list included his
clothes, DVDs, books, mugs, squash racquet and even a loose teabag!
His laptop and mouse had been swathed in the paper, alongside his drawers
and everything in them.
The scheme was the brainchild of civil engineering student Eddie Fray,
who spent a total of 18 hours papering the room, along with accomplices
Freddie Bruce, Joel Emanuel and Cedric Lowe.
“We spent and hour-and-a-half on Friday, and then did it on Saturday
after brunch until 1am,” said Fray.
“On Sunday we did two hours before lunch and three or four afterwards.”
The total effort required 24 newspapers and four rolls of sellotape.
Burchfield’s response to the prank in his room was, “Who
ever did this, you’re bastards. This is really bad for the environment.”
