Pumpgirl
The Bush Theatre
Traverse Theatre, August 3 – 27 (not 7, 14, 21)
****
Written by Irish actress turned writer Abbie Spallen; Pumpgirl is a funny yet tragic tale of three lives torn apart by infidelity and betrayal told through a trio of intertwining heart-felt monologues.

As the title suggests the protagonist is a girl who works at a garage, a role masterfully played by Orla Fitzgerald, fresh from her appearance in Ken Loach’s Palme d’Or winning The Wind That Shakes The Barley.

Pumpgirl is obsessively in love with the headstrong part-time stock car racer, rest of the time chicken farm worker ‘No Helmet’ Hammy. Sinead is Hammy’s bored housewife who is sick of his errant ways and embarks on her own journey of discovery. You know it will all end in tears.
