Yo Yo Yo
Baltimore’s
Spank Rock match the underground hype with one of the freshest
modern takes on the hip-hop template.
Producer XXXchange drops an immense melting-pot of sounds that
surprise and enthuse in equal measure, taking pointers from a
history of hip-hop noise but moulding a unique techno-tinged aural
attack.

MC Spank Rock spits perverted, party rhymes reminiscent of golden-age,
good time hip-hop with an effortless flow not unlike the skills
of Q-Tip. In short, Spank Rock have all the elements for great
hip-hop music.
'What it look like' is built around the random plucking of a violin
and violated by dirty electro-beats, whilst 'Sweet Talk' is a
deep, raw funk track in the James Brown vein taking in beats and
soul samples as MC Spank Rock playfully moulds the English language
into new shapes at the fore.
All in all Yo Yo Yo is Spank Rock’s grand entrance, and
is the perfect experimental, hip-hop party album.
