Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer?
Continuing
the band’s stripped down sound from their last studio release,
The Sunlandic Twins’ Kevin Barnes and co. deliver an up
tempo, electronic feast for the senses with their latest release.
Often described as a modern day homage to The Beatles’ Sgt.
Pepper’s album, the new disc provides rousing melodies
and a lyrical voyage that out does any of the band’s previous
work.
With a wide range of beats including an extremely funky mid-track
titled, ‘Gronlandic Edit,’ and the Gnarls Barkley-esque
‘Faberge Falls for Shuggie’, the band successfully
navigates through various genre territories to arrive at a soaring
final track that stands out as the best on the album.
At times the band comes dangerously close to being a little too
comparable to the latest Killer’s release, Sam’s
Town and perhaps even the newest Scissor Sister’s disc,
yet the song writing is far and above anything put on the table
by those bands thus far.
