'My Violent
Femme' is the debut single from Essex boys’ The Morenas
forthcoming full-length, Whole and the Half.
According to the band, it’s a song about ‘a violent
and possessive ex-girlfriend’ - but that certainly wasn’t
the first thing that came to mind when I heard this track.
What did spring to mind, however, was that it was a distinctly
up-beat track, with plenty of happy-sounding melodies and rhythms,
with attitude in to boot. ‘My Violent Femme’ is
a track that sees red.
It has been said that this band have the potential to be the
‘next big thing’. Such compliments are given away
all too easily these days but Paolo (Morena), Tim (Jackson)
& Steve (Wilson) may just have what it takes to chart well,
but only if their album shares the energy that the band have
clearly placed in abundance here.
