Happy Together

Everyone knows this song. It’s on the N-Power adverts. It’s been on lots of other adverts too (Golden Grahams, Twix). It’s been on television shows (The Simpsons, That 70s Show) and lots of films, to boot. As you may or may not know, it was originally recorded by The Turtles in 1967.

Jonny Panic’s version isn’t really a brilliant cover; it basically sounds a lot like the original. The song, as expected, gets stuck in your head and goes round and round and round and after a few plays becomes quite repetitive.

There’s only so much annoyingly uplifting music some people can take. The b-side, on the other hand, is somewhat better.

It sounds somewhat like something Ash would have written, at their musical peak…lots of melody, yet still not energetic enough to get excited about.
