Back
To The Futon
Paul Kerensa
Smirnoff Underbelly, Aug 3-27 (not 14)
**
Back to the Future is the best film ever made
and - great Scot! - that’s a fact. The Delorean, the Flux Capacitor,
the Libyan terrorists, the dubious integral incest plot - Paul Kerensa
relives it all, making him only the second ginger bloke to play Marty
McFly (remember Eric Stoltz, anybody?).
He’s a likeable chap, self-depreciating and endearing, and the
footage of his time travel reconstruction is truly inspired. The trouble
is that despite BTTF being the king of all family features, it ultimately
doesn’t garner enough material to sustain the show comfortably.
The gags can be hit and miss and the references to Parkinson’s
Disease doesn’t sit easily with Kerensa’s nice guy persona.
