Aerosolics Anonymous

We have a UK street art scene that rivals any other country for quality and innovation Aerosol artists continue to crew together to stamp their technicolour mark upon the cityscape, evolving fresh techniques and finding new materials all of the time. But how has ‘graffiti’ become a dirty word? It is vital to distinguish between the kind of graffiti vandalism that riles police and authorities and legitimate artwork that is a marvel rather than a menace.

Aerosolics is a festival designed to uphold the validity of aerosol art, welcoming everyone from veterans to novices for one fullyfledged audio-visual extravaganza.
The ethos is one of fusion; smashing acoustic and aerosol art together and stretching established genres…just don't mention the 'G' word! Aerosolics will help to raise the profile of street culture by hosting the first ever UK round of Write4Gold.
Write4Gold is a non profit event that travels to over 17 cities on 4 continents, mixing aerosol art, hip hop and skate programmes.
Eight selected crews will be judged by respected writers like Bates for their style, conception, sketching, throwups and tagging. The winning crew gets spray paint and a free trip to battle at the international final in Germany. Well, if we can't beat 'em at footie…!

The Aerosolics site will also be an evolving, interactive work of art. Party people keep your eyes peeled because new creations will crystallise all of the time. Blade (NY) will be talking about the origins of aerosol art, and painting live in his old school style.
Special guests including 54Crew, TMP, AAGH and Sickboy will be spraying up not only boards but also classic cars, tanks, trains and planes. All empty spray cans will be tagged and recycled as massive field sculptures.
Aerosolics attendees will be allowed their own art attack at the massive target wall, letting rip with paint bombs, brushes, cans and rollers: this is group art at its grimiest!
