Schaefer’s golden hat-trick

TeamBath swimmer Janne Schaefer completed a terrific hat-trick by winning the 50m breaststroke gold for the third year in a row at the European Short Course Championships.

The 26-year-old University of Bath student won the title for the first time in Italy in 2005 and followed that up with gold in Helsinki last year.

Both Schaefer, who swims for Germany, and Russian swimmer Yuliya Efimova touched home in 30.33 seconds, both winning golds.
