Pickering
sets world’s fastest time
University
of Bath student Craig Pickering became the fastest man in the world
over 60m this year at the Norwich Union International in Glasgow on
January 26.
Pickering was defending his 60m indoor title and he blew away the competition,
capitalizing on a great start to run an impressive 6.57 seconds.
Furthermore, Pickering’s win lifted Britain from third to first
in the mini-championship at the event, ousting the United States and
Germany to win by one point.
Pickering led home a British 1-2-3 in the 60m, beating Simeon Williamson
and fellow Bath Student Ryan Scott into second and third respectively.
Scott had become the fastest sprinter in the country with a time of
6.70, which he set at a Birmingham meet on the January 19, before Pickering
destroyed that time.
