Bath and Loughborough overlooked for 2012 base

The universities of Bath and Loughborough missed out on the opportunity to be the official training camp for the British Olympic team ahead of London 2012.

The two universities had lodged solid looking bids but were overlooked as the Aldershot Army base was given the honour.

The Hampshire site was chosen primarily on its proximity to London and Olympic Association boss Simon Clegg conceded there was little to choose between the facilities of the sites.
